Today it is a busy, bustling town with a delightful mix of old and new buildings, wide streets and narrow lane-ways. Drogheda offers its visitors an exciting contrast between medieval past and modern life including a shoppers´paradise with the latest indoor shopping facilities .
Not far from Drogheda, the “Boyne Valley” is steeped in history. Its several giant megalithic tombs are part of the world heritage. Newgrange is the best known of these prehistoric monuments and is open to visitors.
Drogheda is located just 45 km north of Dublin. A good rail system provides easy access for sightseeing in the capital city.
